Want to give new life to sun parched skin? These ‘good enough to eat’ treatments rely on the bounty of the garden and earth to naturally revitalize body and face.

Orange peel refreshment is a Chilean beauty secret. Moisten face and massage with the white part of an orange peel. Inhale the fragrance while bio-flavanoids strengthen your skin and fruit acids gently exfoliate. Rinse lightly and moisturize.

If your face feels irritated, dry or blotchy, drench with a milk compress.

A European beauty secret, milk calms irritation with natural anti-inflamatories, gently exfoliates with lactic acid and nourishes with protein and minerals. All types of milk work but whole milk contains more moisturizingfat proteins.

Fill a bowl with milk and ice. Soak two wash cloths with this and apply to your face, neck and décolleté. Press gently and breathe deeply, relaxing until compress is warmer. Then dip and wring cloths with the chilled milk, repeat one to three times. Let your skin air dry and enjoy the cool calm feel of your face.

Rinse, moisturize and go out looking fresh, vibrant and beautiful.

Egg whites tighten pores and saturate your skin with amino acids and protein, increasing radiance. Just massage a bit of egg white onto face and neck. (I like to mix in a tiny drop of peppermint oil.) Let the protein mask dry and enjoy the tightening feel of your skin. Rinse with warm water, apply moisturizer and enjoy the polished look of your skin.

Plump and moisturize your face with an avocado face mask. Mash and rub a tablespoon of ripe avocado onto your face. Massage lightly. Let the mask nourish dry skin for 5-10 minutes. Rinse, moisturize and see the glow.

Make a power mask. Tenderly apply yogurt mixed with mashed berries or fresh fruit. Allow it to feed and exfoliate your face with natural juices. Relax, breathe deeply, rinse and moisturize.

Wash and then massage your face and neck with raw honey using light patting and smooth upward strokes. Let this enzyme and mineral rich moisture mask nourish your face for 5-15 minutes. Place a warm towel over your face if you have time. Rinse and moisturize.

After cleansing and toning, lift and give new life to your face by applying moisturizer while bending at the waist. Keep Abs pulled in, knees bent. Rest elbows on thighs while gently massaging your face and neck towards the hairline. Re-moisten with water or toner to maintain fluidity. Add the finishing touch by patting lightly. This brings blood to the surface, presses in moisture and ‘wakes up’ the skin.

Salt Glow Body Scrub:

Pour a tablespoon of sea salt onto your washcloth and massage in circular motions during your bath or shower. For suds, try adding a squirt of bath gel. For dry skin you can add some jojoba or olive oil, but this means a tub ring. Leaves you shining clean and invigorated.

Body Moisture Rescue. After bathing, rub jojoba oil and/or lotion generously on your body. Wring out a wash cloth with warm water. Squirt a little lotion onto washcloth and rub briskly all over to massage in healing ingredients and moisture. For your healthy back, hold the washcloth diagonally and ‘scrub’ the lotion into your back. Breathe as deeply as you can. Your skin will be glowing, moist and smooth.

Increase hydration by drinking more water. Divide your weight in half and hydrate with that many oz of water. If you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 oz daily.

Give yourself loving blessings while caring for your body. Hawaiians use “Ho ona ne’a” meaning, “To pass the time in ease and comfort”

In Bali, women use the blessing, “Omsuasti astu” which means, “Peace in your heart and in the world.”

Wholesome self care will fill your heart and soul and keep you looking fresh and beautiful.
